An AFP photographer was hit by a rubber bullet apparently fired by riot police trying to rein in an anti-war protest that massed 7,000 people outside the US embassy in Bogota Thursday. Two other photographers with international agencies were hit by police and one demonstrator was injured, witnesses and reporters said.
A police spokesman, contacted by AFP after the incident, insisted authorities did not use rubber bullets, but did use tear gas on the crowd. Luis Acosta, a 34-year-old AFP photographer, was hit in the left thigh which was severely bruised, but he filed his photos of the protest before heading to the hospital.
